Open Education Resources (OER) are being widely adopted across the post secondary market.  In this discussion, David Harris, the editor in chief for OpenStax will highlight the emerging ecosystem supporting OpenStax resources.  David will discuss the idea of an OER marketplace in which innovation, competition, and increase access is flourishing.  OpenStax is currently the most widely adopted source of OER and serves over $4 million students annually.

David is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and has worked extensively in higher education publishing and education technology start-ups.  David has served in a range of leadership roles, allowing him to collaborate with innovative authors, editorial groups, and media development teams in the industry.  At OpenStax, David works to improve access to high-quality materials by working with a wide array of contributors.  During his tenure, has been involved in the development of over 40 tiles and counting that have saved students more than $1 billion since 2012.  As OpenStax continues to expand David is identifying areas in which OER can be a driver for solving challenges of access, learning, and academic integrity.  Before joining OpenStax David was the president of WebAssign, the largest independent online homework provide at the time.
