Taking education online impacts team dynamics, especially in hybrid teams (both in person and remote members). This session will introduce CMU’s technology-enhanced training for effective collaboration on student projects. We will discuss proven tools and actionable ideas for helping student teams improve performance and dynamics.

Martha Harty

Distinguished Service Professor, Carnegie Mellon University
 
Martha Harty is a mediator, trainer and learning scientist, a professor at Carnegie Mellon, and co-founder of Martris, a tech startup. She creates training modules for student teams covering collaboration, diversity and conflict skills, and studies their effectiveness. Recent work includes CollaborativeU–basic diversity and conflict communication–and ConflictU–interest-based negotiation (available on CMU’s Open Learning Initiative). Her startup’s first product, Conflict Coach, is a mobile app that helps users navigate personal and professional conflicts and learn conflict management skills.
