Instruction By Design: Busting Multimedia Myths
In this episode, the instructional designers from Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation (Celia Coochwytewa, Aaron Kraft, and Jinnette Senecal) are joined by special guests Steven R Crawford, Ed.D, and Michael Moramarco, M.A. to consider the forms and functions of instructional multimedia, along with factors that impact effectiveness. We then explore several of these issues through the lens of common misconceptions, and what actionable conclusions may be reached based on current research.

Guest profiles:
Steven Crawford is the District Director for the Maricopa Center for Learning and Innovation at Maricopa Community Colleges. Prior to that, he was with Arizona State University in a variety of roles including Associate Director of Academic Innovation at the College of Nursing and Health Innovation and as an Instructional Designer for ASU Online. While with ASU Online he served as the QM Coordinator and designed the University’s QM Implementation Plan. He has also worked at Old Dominion University in their distance learning program and computer services department.
Steven has a Master of Science in Education (Instructional Design & Technology) from Old Dominion and a Doctor of Education (Leadership and Innovation) from Arizona State University. In 2014, was awarded the Shirley Davis Award for Excellence in Blended Learning by The NUTN Network, and has co-written a chapter on The Flipped College Classroom.
Michael Moramarco is currently a project manager at the law offices of Snell & Wilmer L.L.P. He coordinates their project management information system and oversees multiple internal process improvement, infrastructure, and development initiatives. Formerly, Michael was the project manager for the Center for Advancing Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research (CAIPER) at Arizona State University. There, Michael was the Executive Producer for CAIPER Confabs: A Health Professions Podcast by CAIPER Interprofessional by Design. As well, he managed multiple internal and external grants and partnerships including the Student Health Outreach for Wellness, the Arizona Nexus, and the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education.
