Scaling Mathematics Knowledge Transfer with Technology and Data

Session Overview

This video was part of the June 2022 REMOTE: The Connected Faculty Summit

The Math, Computer Science and Statistics (MACS) Intelligent Tutor is the next generation of intelligent tutoring systems. Much like Google Maps’ technology that provides step-by-step navigation, MACS, powered by Gradarius’ computer algebra system, corrects each student’s “wrong turn” in real-time as they work to solve each step of a math problem. An infinitely patient tool, the MACS Intelligent Tutor provides personalized guidance towards mastery while empowering teachers with the necessary student data they need to efficiently and effectively tailor interventions to their students, particularly those who are at-risk. The MACS Tutor will enhance students’ understanding of math through a free-form interface and expanded curriculum that fills in learning losses. Using precise error mapping, the tutor will improve the granularity of feedback so each learner has the skills necessary for academic and career success.
